Miss Balaratnam is a qualified Doctor of over 25 years, with a 7-year background in
NHS reconstructive plastic surgery. With a deep understanding of anatomy, skin
and scar management to improve both functional and aesthetic outcomes. She has
integrated these concepts to her current specialism of aesthetic medicine, which
she has specialized in for the last 14 years.
Practicing from her multi-award-winning clinic, S-Thetics, in Buckinghamshire, UK,
she adopts a strategic approach to facial and body rejuvenation using the latest,
cutting edge products and technologies. By integrating the patient consultation and
assessment process together with detailed treatment planning, her patients benefit
from a comprehensive and results driven approach, with a focus on aesthetic
wellbeing.
In March 2022, Miss Balaratnam was awarded the prestigious title of ‘Medical
Aesthetic Practitioner of the Year’ at the Aesthetics Awards, being voted by her
peers as the top Aesthetic Doctor in the UK. She is 1 of only 9 Doctors to have
received this accolade. S-Thetics Clinic was also named ‘Best Clinic South
England’ for the 2nd time.
Miss Balaratnam is featured in the Tatler ‘Beauty & Cosmetic Surgery Guide’ as one
of the UK’s Top Doctors for facial injectable and regenerative aesthetic treatments,
for the fifth consecutive year.
She is a co-author of the botulinum toxins chapter in the Oxford Textbook of Plastic
and Reconstructive Surgery, the ‘bible’ for any surgeon in training.
In June 2023, Miss Balaratnam was invited by BTL Aesthetics to become a Global
Key Opinion Leader. She is the first non-US Doctor in BTL’s 30-year history
selected for this honour and joins a select panel of elite consultant plastic surgeons,
dermatologists and aesthetic doctors.
Miss Balaratnam became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2003, is a
highly experienced former NHS surgeon and also holds a Masters degree from the
University College of London in the field of surgical science and cancer biology.
This brings a wealth of academia to her clinical practice, and she is regularly invited
by global companies in aesthetic science to participate in clinical research and
present her data at medical conferences around the world.
